Pathfinder grants available to help fund technology market validation projects Pathfinder grants support the process of commercialisation of new technologies by funding market research and market validation activities to help new products and processes to reach their markets. Grants of £5,000 – £20,000 are available to small to medium sized businesses, research and technology organisations and individuals with appropriate intellectual property rights.
Pathfinder grants are funded by emda and the European Regional Development Fund, and can be awarded for projects up to six months in length. Grants can pay for up to 70% of the project costs – the remaining costs must be paid by recipients. Payments are defrayed for six months. The grants support activities to determine market potential of new technologies in five key areas: - Materials
- Energy and Waste
- Biotechnology and Therapeutics
- Design, Engineering and Manufacturing
- Information and Communications Technologies
